Cuppings

Cupping at 7

A reminder about our cupping sessions, Thursday 10.30 am. Last week we had a great selection of coffees cupped espresso style , this week should just as interesting. Current offerings should be helped out with the arrival of some Panama Esmeralda this week as well as some other coffees. Another geisha from panama is on the wayl, which is a stunner. So it will be interesting to put these 2 coffees head to head. Esmeralda will be pre order, stay tuned.

Bloggage

Cupping this weekend is a selection of recent arrivals, this will be the last cupping for a few weeks and possibly the last one on a Saturday. I am off on an educational retreat for a week or two. The espresso blend is almost in its new form. Look for a few new coffees coming into the list as well.

Uni's back

Seven seeds has had a week feeling the full effects on Melbourne Uni being back, and BBB has also been off the chart. We are getting through our greenbean stash and slowly releasing more and more of the coffees. Cupping is on this week of course and we will be in reality mode again. Lots of roasting this week and some solid gains into new blends as well.
Last chance for a few coffees, as we are running low on Brazil CoE #1, Los altos, Aricha 4, and 14.

The dark side

Late blog post, but we are all good, cupping is back on and 7 seeds is settling into a nice routine. Getting down to some solid roasting and thanks to Terry for the roast illuminator.

So we missed out on some CoE stuff we were bidding on, colombian prices going through the roof, bad weather in the hood, less than expected yields, and the dollar yo-yo ing. Welcome to the dark side. So this week we " embrace the dark side", which should be enough of a hint for this weeks cupping.

the miketrometer

Cupping is back on, this week we pull the covers off the miketrometer, a little roasting tool we have fashioned together out back in the tool shed. Focussing on coffee roast degree, we will be keen to test some of the results.

Cool Costa

Talor Browne getting into a bit of sample roasting action for the upcoming Barista champs. Also through the sample roaster, some great CoE Costa Ricans. This Saturday we will get some more quality coffee on the cupping table, (10am at Seven seeds). A few people through the establishment checking it out, so thanks for that.
We are getting into the swing of it at seven seeds. The grinders and machine are all starting to season in and the roasting side is all go.

Cupping at 7

We have opened, thanks everyone for the your support, kind words and help. A few housekeeping issues first. BBB is closed Monday for the Public Holiday, however 7 seeds will be open 8.30 through until 4.00 .
Cupping is back each Saturday, but at our new spacious room at 7 seeds. Also a few changes, there will be a limited number of cuppers (10). There will be a donation (minimum gold coin) which will be given to coffee kids. This saturday we will showing the El Salvador CoE lots, see if you agree with us...!!??

Colombia

Ok, our turn to check the top Colombia coffees. It will be interesting to cup them again sample roasted here and cupped in our environs. So we will be looking at auction lots based on this cupping and if you want to put in your 2 bobs worth come along.
They are amazing coffees which show the best efforts of these hardworking farmers. And it's also a little solace for us back here while alot of the coffee community are rubbing elbows in Atlanta.

Friday, esmeralda clover day

Today is esmeralda day, well as long as it lasts. The clover will be pumping out the first Australian roasted esmeralda of all time. By us of course. Those of you who have cupped it over the last few weeks have seen us dial that sucker in... So today is the day. The esmeralda is selling fast as well, so if you are keen sooner than later would be my tip.

Cupping tomorrow, lets call it a Mixed bag, a few guest coffees and some bits and pieces we have lying around. Look forward to a video next week..

Cuppings

Ok this weekend we will cup the 5 Cup of excellence coffees from Guatemala and see if we agree with the COE panel. Some interesting varietals in the mix, pacamara, bourbon, catuai, caturra. So be there or be square.
